Privacy Policy

Effective June 29, 2026.

This page explains what information comptrio.com collects when you visit, what happens to that information, and what choices you have. Comptrio is a one-person operation that builds and ships FactoryOS, and the site is run with the same restraint the product is built around: collect the minimum, share none of it, and say so plainly.

The short version

The site stores nothing on your device beyond what is needed to load and display pages -- such as remembering your light or dark theme choice. It runs no analytics, sets no tracking or advertising cookies, and embeds no third-party trackers. Two things you can choose to do leave information with me: submitting the contact form (your name, email, company, industry, and message, sent to my inbox so I can reply), and opting in to an email update (your email address, after you confirm it). Both are handled entirely on my own systems. That is the whole footprint of the site.

Information collected directly by the site

The contact form on the homepage collects only what you type into it. The fields are your name, email address, company, industry selection, and a free-text message. The form transmits that information to my inbox at the moment of submission. The site does not store the message in a customer database, syndicate it to a CRM, or share it with any third party. If you do not submit the form, the site collects nothing from you directly.

The email opt-in collects one thing: your email address. Submitting the contact form does not subscribe you to anything, and subscribing does not send me the rest of the contact-form fields -- the two are separate.

The site sets no marketing or advertising cookies, runs no ad pixels, embeds no third-party social-media trackers, and runs no analytics or measurement service of any kind.

Email updates you opt into

You can choose to receive email from me. There are currently two: A Week with FactoryOS, a short guided email course that follows real people through their first days with the product, and The Local AI Field Notes, an ongoing newsletter about local and private AI. Both are opt-in and use double confirmation: when you enter your address, I send a confirmation email, and you are added only after you click to confirm. The opt-in collects your email address and nothing else.

The list is stored and sent entirely in-house, on my own systems. It is never handed to a third-party email service, never sold or rented, and never shared. Your address is used only to send the series or newsletter you asked for.

Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and an unsubscribe option in the message headers your mail app can use. Unsubscribing is immediate and requires no login or reply. You can also ask me to remove your address through the contact form.

How information is used

Contact-form submissions are used to reply to you and to follow up on the conversation we have. Opt-in email addresses are used only to send the updates you subscribed to. Neither is used to build advertising profiles, neither is sold or rented, and neither is shared with any third party.

Your contact-form message is read and answered by a person. It is not fed to any AI model -- mine or anyone else's -- and nothing you do on this site is processed by an AI service. The site runs no AI.

How information is shared

I do not sell, rent, or trade personal information, and I do not share contact-form submissions or subscriber addresses with any third party. The email list is run on my own systems rather than a third-party provider, so your address is not exposed to an outside service in the course of sending you mail. Because the site runs no analytics and loads no third-party trackers, there is no background outbound flow of your personal data at all.

I may disclose information when required by a valid legal process, when necessary to protect the rights or safety of any person, or when investigating misuse of the site.

Your choices

You can browse comptrio.com without submitting the contact form or opting in, in which case nothing identifies you to me. If you have subscribed, you can unsubscribe instantly from the link in any email. You can ask me to delete any message you have sent or to confirm what I have on file by submitting that request through the contact form. I will respond within a reasonable time and will delete on request unless I am required to retain the information to comply with law.

Residents of jurisdictions that grant additional rights -- for example, the right to access, correct, or delete personal information under state or national privacy laws -- may exercise those rights by sending the request through the contact form.

Children

Comptrio is a business-to-business site. It is not directed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has submitted information, send a note through the contact form and I will delete it.

Security of the information held

Contact-form messages and the subscriber list live on systems protected by standard authentication and transport encryption. No system is unbreakable, and I make no representation that the transmission of information over the public internet is fully secure.

Changes to this policy

This policy may change as the site evolves or as the law requires. Material changes will be reflected in the effective date above. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
